Victorian Liner Chairs

£16,800.00

Absolutely stunning and very rare, pair of 19th century rosewood ocean liner chairs that have a holding bracket underneath used when on the waves but at the same time will swivel and whilst at dock can be moved onto the original castors. It is quite possible that they originated in America, whilst the mid 19th century styling was similar to the British. It is very likely that they were made for a private suite of rooms of which these would have adorned the ladies boudoir. We have had the chairs re-polished and the upholstery is very similar in style to the original with deep buttoned back and pleated skirt. The material is soft light velvet and has a dark blue background with foliate detail giving a silver sheen. These chairs are in remarkably good condition and look even better in the flesh.
