We probably hold the largest selection of top quality, fully restored Roll Top Desks in the Country. We only deal in the best as the cost of restoration is significant enough it wouldn't be viable to work on a poor quality one. These are not a clean and wax job but a full nut and bolt restoration.
Restoration Check list of percentage of desks affected
1. Shrinkage to drawer bottoms 60%
2. Loose dovetail joints 60%
3. Drawer locking mechanisms(we've fitted) 70%
4. Loose joints to drawer pedestals 75%
5. Missing castors 30%
6. Damaged or missing knobs from internals drawers 80%
7. Damaged or missing locks 70%
8. Tooled leather damaged 40%
9. Missing label slots 20%
10. Most important of all is the poor condition of the tambour which affects 95% of all the desks we see.
On it's own at least a full day with our restorers, and you need to know what you are doing.
11. Assess the condition of the French polish whether revitalise the original or fully strip and polish 95%
11A. On average all desks spend approximately one week in our workshops receiving professional care.
12. Not part of the restoration program but, we also personally delivery 95% of all the roll top desks that we sell (UK mainland) and set them up in your desired location. In most cases a two man job by people experienced doing so.
