Edwardian Oak Roll Top Desk

A rare typewriter roll top desk from the Edwardian period. A beautiful worm golden oak desk with fielded (bevelled) panels all round. The polished back allows you to use the desk off the wall if required. The rare and unusual folding top mechanism is working as intended and will store the typewriter or laptop underneath and out of sight locked in when the roll is down. As with most quality roll tops, the interior is a plethora of drawers, compartments and pen slides. The pedestal drawers have nicely carved drawer pulls and one drawer has a lock. Both the drawer and the tambour have working locks with a spare key supplied. The whole finish has been repolished where necessary and burnished, whilst still retaining it’s character. As with all of our roll top desks the tambour has been completely rebacked, not a small, cheap nor easy job but you will find that most roll tops have tell tale splits in the original linen backing and after over 100 years of use time is not on their side.

Height to Worktop – 78cm = 30 1/4 inches
