A huge pollard oak credenza of fabulous quality. Very likely to have been made by either James Lamb or Thomas Turner, both of Manchester and amongst the most respected cabinet makers in the country. The superb pollard oak veneers are all laid on solid mahogany and the central cupboards are both fitted with drawers and a large cellarette. The design is simple, yet very imposing. The bowed ends have stepped terminating columns with carved lozenges and all the cupboards are crossbanded and have ebony inlay. The centre section also has carved lozenges below a pair of superbly carved lions masks, complete with snarling teeth. The top also has ebony inlay with the front edge with a bold bowed and concave moulding. The overall condition is very good with no splits or cracks and is ready to use.
