Pair of Lambing Chairs

A very attractive pair of solid elm ‘Lambing Chairs’ recently repolished and with new upholstery in an aged looking gold draylon. They are very comfortable and snug to sit in. Described as ‘Lambing Chairs’ because most shepherds crofts would be rather drafty small buildings set in rather remote areas such as the Pennines. The solid sides, wings and backs would help keep the draught off. Probably would have had sheepskins to help keep warm in the day. The arms are showing signs of well used chairs with a nice tactile feel to them. All good for the next 100 years.
